UponSale

We built UponSale because “50% off” usually isn’t

A crossed-out price is a marketing decision, not a measurement. The only way to know whether today’s price is genuinely good is to have watched what that exact product costs, across several independent retailers, over months. That is the entire job UponSale does.

What UponSale is

A price-intelligence and deal-verification service for products sold by independent specialist retailers. For every product we track, we answer four questions:

  • Where is it cheapest right now? Across the stores we monitor, with each price timestamped.
  • Is that price actually good? Measured against the price history we recorded ourselves.
  • Can I trust the comparison? Same variant, same condition, same region — or we keep them apart.
  • Should I buy now? Described from observed history, never predicted.

What UponSale is not

We are not a shop. We hold no stock, take no payments and process no orders — when you click through, you buy from the retailer under their terms. We are not a review site either: we have not tested these products, so we do not publish opinions dressed up as testing. And we are not a coupon aggregator republishing whatever discount a retailer claims.

Why independent retailers

Large marketplaces are already covered by every comparison site there is. Specialist independents are not — even though they are where the same model is often sold by dozens of shops at meaningfully different prices. That gap is exactly where a price comparison is worth something, so it is where we started.

How we pay for it

UponSale is free to use and does not require an account. We fund the service through advertising and a small number of clearly marked supply recommendations. Neither can change which offer we rank first — the ranking algorithm has no access to commercial data at all. Anything paid is kept visually separate and labelled. See how we are funded.

Editorial independence

No retailer can pay to appear, to rank higher, or to have an unflattering statistic removed. When our data says a store’s advertised discount is inflated, we publish that. Read the full editorial policy and methodology.

Getting in touch

Corrections, retailer requests and press enquiries all go through the same place: our contact page. If you run a store and would rather we read your catalogue less often, or not at all, say so and we will — no argument, no forms.
