Three different things get called a discount, and only two of them are measurable today. The gap between stores is one we can read right now. A price drop is one we can only prove against history we recorded ourselves. A badge on an inflated list price is neither.

Same product, different price

Identical items, matched on variant rather than title, where the stores we track disagree most today. This is a measurement of the market right now — it needs no price history at all, which is why it is first.

Real price drops

A drop qualifies only when today’s best verified price is genuinely below what the product normally sells for, measured against the median we recorded ourselves.

Nothing qualifies yet, and that is the honest answer. A price can only be called a drop once we hold enough of our own observations to know what the product normally sells for. This catalogue is young, so that baseline does not exist yet — and until it does, calling anything a drop would mean trusting the crossed-out number, which is exactly what this site exists not to do.

How we calculate this

Where prices come from. We read the product data each retailer publishes on its own site, unhurriedly and within the rules that retailer sets. We never work around an access control and we never buy collected data of uncertain provenance.

What “verified” means. An offer can win best price only if it is inside our freshness window, matched to the exact variant, in stock, and free of an unresolved price anomaly. “Best verified price” means lowest among the fresh offers we track — not the lowest price on the internet.

How history works. Every price we observe is stored with its source and timestamp. Daily market low, median and high come from those observations, so the price history on this page is ours, not a retailer’s claim.

What we exclude. Stale offers, mismatched variants, bundles compared against single items, and prices that move implausibly without corroboration from another store.

Images. Product photographs come from the retailer they sit beside, loaded from their own image host. We do not re-host them and claim no rights in them.
